During the academic year 2021/2022 staff, pupils and governors trained and worked with the children’s charity ‘Barnardo’s’ and Positive Identities in adopting a whole school approach to fostering inclusive learning environments and tacking HBT (homophobic, biphobic and transphobic) behaviours in our world.
Educating our children about the diversity of modern Britain within the school environment is important to us and enables all pupils to feel included and develop inclusive and accepting attitudes to those who might be different to them.
Barnardo’s trained a group of pupils across Years 4, 5 and 6 to become ‘Barnardo’s Equality Ambassadors’ (BEAMS).
Having an ambassador scheme ensures that there are named people within school who will fight for equal rights, challenge discrimination, and help ensure that school is an inclusive environment for all.
